Win or lose, TCU fans glad March Madness drought is over

For the first time in 20 years, TCU Men's Basketball is back in the NCAA Tournament.

FORT WORTH, Texas —March Madness fever is alive and well in Cowtown. For the first time in 20 years, TCU Men’s Basketball is back in the NCAA Tournament.

The last time the Frogs went dancing was 1998, and they lost in the first round of the tournament to the Florida State Seminoles 87-96.

Before then? The last time they made it to the tournament was 1987. Before that? 1971.

The team itself has had major success since Coach Jamie Dixon took over. In two seasons, he has a 45-26 record—which puts him in a tie for the second most winning percentage in school history.

He’s also had more wins than 10 former TCU coaches.

Fans flocked to bars in downtown Fort Worth wearing purple, many oblivious to the drought while some knew very well what Friday meant for the school.

Bottom line? Many said they hope they don’t have to live through three presidencies to get back to March Madness play.
