Update (7 p.m.): Storms bringing heavy rain moved through North Texas early Saturday evening, but the chances for severe weather remained further south and a severe thunderstorm watch was canceled for Dallas-Fort Worth.
Heavy rain and potential for pea-size hail continued further south and east of DFW, moving through Kaufman and Van Zandt counties.
None of the storms, however, were severe.
After 8 p.m., storms will mainly move east of DFW and into East Texas, but a lingering shower or storm is possible. Severe threat will decrease, but not completely go away after sunset. A spotty severe storm with hail or wind is possible into the nighttime hours.
Overnight best storm chances will be across northern and northeastern North Texas. Some of those storms could linger into first thing Sunday morning.
Sunday will be similar to today where most of the day will be dry. But scattered showers or storms will be possible during the afternoon hours. Overall severe threat is low, but can't rule out a strong to severe storm.
