DALLAS – Police say gunshots were fired after tempers flared during a water balloon fight at a rooftop pool party in downtown Dallas Sunday evening.

No one was injured in the shooting that broke out during a private event on the rooftop of the Crowne Plaza downtown just before 9 p.m.

“An unknown suspect was struck by a water balloon and became angry and discharged rounds,” police said in a media bulletin Monday morning.

According to social media posts promoting the event, the pool party was held from 3-9 p.m. with DJ performances and bottle service. Some posts indicated partygoers could bring their own alcohol.

Videos posted to Twitter appeared to show the hotel's ninth-floor pool packed with scores of people in and around the pool.

After the event, some people claiming to have attended wrote about the gunfire on social media.

“Nobody got shot. Please don’t spread lies,” one person wrote.

“#WetNWild was cool until the last 20 minutes,” another wrote.
