Bicyclist fatally struck by car in Grand Prairie; police searching for driver

Police are searching for the driver and a passenger of a car that fatally struck a bicyclist in Grand Prairie early Sunday.

The crash happened about 6 a.m. at South Belt Line Road and the Interstate 20 frontage road, according to a police news release.

A mid-2000s black Chevy Impala hit a bicyclist, and then drove away, heading north on Belt Line. The bicyclist died at the scene.

Witnesses told police that two black women in their late 20s were in the car, which has front-end damage and the passenger-side headlight out, the news release said. The driver was wearing a pink shirt, khaki shorts and pink tennis shoes, witnesses reported.

Police were still searching for the women and trying to identify them Sunday. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Grand Prairie police at 972-237-8906 or Crime Stoppers at 972-988-8477 (TIPS).
