Nothing but heat across North Texas

Nothing but heat across North Texas for the rest of the week. In fact, the heat will only build into the weekend.

Highs today will be above 100° area-wide with temps at or even above 105° for DFW to the west. It should be the hottest day of the year so far surpassing yesterday's high of 104°.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for DFW and areas to the west. These areas will have the best chance for temps at or above 103° and a heat index of at or above 105°. It will be hot elsewhere, but areas under the Heat Advisory will likely be the hottest in North Texas.

Even hotter temps are in store for tomorrow and Friday with Friday likely being the hottest day this week. An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect for almost all of North Texas for Thursday and Friday. This is because highs will be in the 103° to 107° range across North Texas.

A record high is possible on Friday with a forecasted high of 107° right now (record 105° set in 2012). This will also be the hottest day since August 2016. If the temp can climb to 108°, that would make it the hottest day since August 2012. Time will tell!

Temps stay well above 100° into the weekend. If you have outdoor plans, take the heat seriously, make sure to stay hydrated, and have a way to stay cool!

Looking ahead, there might be some relief in our future. It looks like we could see a summertime cold front arrive by the middle of next week which will knock highs down into the 90s and perhaps bring back some rain chances. Since this is at least a week away, of course things can chance, but we'll be watching!
