Slater sisters create coworking space for women in Dallas

The Slate is opening on March 1 in Dallas. It's a coworking space with a twist.

DALLAS — Shared office space, or coworking, is becoming a big deal in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Multiple companies have opened offices in the last few months like WeWork and Varidesk, but a different and local company is launching soon in Dallas.

The Slate is set to open on March 1 in the Design District of Dallas at 2403 Farrington Street. The last bit of construction is being done at this open space office concept.

This is the brainchild of the Slater sisters. Shelly Slater, a former WFAA journalist, and her sister, Jodie Hastings, a former lawyer, are the backbone of the operation.

The sisters have different skillsets, which they hope is what people will bring to The Slate. They are seeking tenants with different backgrounds and businesses that will help other businesses in the building succeed.

The Slate is also catered to women. It's not exclusive to women. The sisters say men are more than welcome, but it is geared toward female empowerment.

And unlike any other coworking offices out there, The Slate has a creative studio where businesses can record videos, podcast, and establish their brand.

A variety of expertise will all be under one roof in a comfortable space. As the Slater sisters would say, "Hone it. Own it. Slate it."
