1 killed in wrong-way crash near downtown Dallas

A 55-year-old man was found dead at the scene and the suspected wrong-way driver was taken to Baylor University Medical Center.

DALLAS — A 55-year-old man was killed early Wednesday in a wrong-way crash near downtown Dallas.

Mac Arthur Brantley was driving a Ford Mustang on northbound Interstate 345 when a car driving the wrong way crashed into the Mustang head on. Brantley was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:39 a.m., according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Department.

Cesar Torres, 24, was the driver of the Acura TSX that crashed into the Mustang, officials said.

Torres remains hospitalized but faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter, according to the sheriff's department.

Officials said Torres entered the highway from the off-ramp at Main Street, then drove into the left lane of northbound I-345, which caused the crash.

The northbound lanes of I-345 remained closed for several hours.
