An investigation is underway after a 15-year-old boy was killed in a shooting late Friday morning in Dallas.
Police were first alerted to the shooting when they received calls reporting shots fired at about 11:25 a.m. in the 600 block of North Denley Drive.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a car crashed into a pole and a teen shot in the passenger seat.
The teen, identified by police as 15-year-old Luis Carlos Guevara, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver, a 16-year-old boy, told police it all started when they were approached by three people in a brown Dodge Caravan. He said one of the people, a young teen, fired shots into their car.
The driver attempted to leave the scene but crashed into a light pole.
The suspects, described as two teen boys and a young man, fled the scene in the van. Authorities didn't have a detailed description of the suspects.
The driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries that he sustained during the crash.
