Heat Advisory expanded to include Dallas, Tarrant counties; hot & humid conditions continue this week

DALLAS — Does it feel like summer yet? The heat has arrived in North Texas, and for now, it's here to stay. 

Sunday and and Monday were officially the hottest days of the year at DFW Airport. The high hit a sultry 99 on both days! 

Tuesday

As far as rain chances, they'll be confined to the far western portion of North Texas, mainly this morning. Otherwise hot, humid and dry weather will persist.

Heat index values will soar above 100 degrees for most of North Texas Monday, so be careful and be sure to drink plenty of water if spending any time in the heat.

On Monday Dallas Fire-Rescue officials said they responded to seven heat-related calls from noon to 7 p.m. Of those seven, two were taken to local hospitals. MedStar officials in Fort Worth said they responded to four heat-related calls during the same time period. Two were serious, and all four were taken to area hospitals.

The rest of the week

Not much more happening in the world of weather other than heat and humidity. No major relief from the heat for several days... it is JUNE, after all. 

The one relief we may get is a slight break in the humidity. The early part of the workweek could be a little less humid than this weekend, which will help that heat index not be as high during the afternoons.

Now that the hot temperatures have returned, it is good to brush up on a few tips to protect you family and furry friends. 

Heat tips: 

1). Stay Hydrated

2). Wear light-colored clothing

3). Take frequent breaks

4). Never leave a child or pet in a hot car!!
