With a trip to AT&T Stadium on the line, the Golden Bears came up big.

South Oak Cliff and Lubbock-Cooper squared off Friday night in the 5A-Division II state semifinals.

The Golden Bears' historic season continued on a high note with a 44-10 win over the Pirates.

Rooting on the Golden Bears on Friday night was a strong contingent of fans who made the three-hour drive from Dallas. And even more supporters back home, watching the game.

The South Oak Cliff fans were treated to show from the start. Randy Reece ran back the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and South Oak Cliff never looked back.

"It's time to kick in the door next week," South Oak Cliff coach Jason Todd said after the game, asking fans to show up big at AT&T Stadium when the Golden Bears play Liberty Hill for the state championship at 11 a.m. next Saturday.

"Be there," Todd said, "because we're telling you: We're going to bring it back to Dallas. We'll see you at 11 o'clock at Cowboys Stadium. The school from the hood is going to be playing for the state championship."

South Oak Cliff came into the game on a 13-game winning streak, losing only in their season opener against Duncanville, 42-27.

Since then, they had outscored their opponents 664 to 131, in reeling off this win streak, knocking off 10-time state champion and three-time defending champ Aledo in the Regional Semifinals two weeks ago, before their dominant win over Lucas Lovejoy in the Region II championship game.

They faced a Lubbock-Cooper team that was on an 11-game winning streak of their own.

The Pirates defeated Wichita Falls Rider in the Region I title game last week. Their only loss of the year came in a 1-point contest, losing to 6A program Wolfforth Frenship 14-13 back in September.
