FORT WORTH, Texas — Two suspects are in custody after shooting at officers during a pursuit, eventually leading to a crash in Haltom City, officials say.
The suspects – identified as 23-year-old Jessica Jean Jarvis and 23-year-old Eliseo Suarez Jr. – fled Tuesday morning after Fort Worth police officers tried to perform a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle, Haltom City police said.
Haltom City police said its officers were called in to assist Fort Worth officers during the pursuit.
At one point, the suspects reportedly began firing at Fort Worth officers before crashing at 820 and the bridge at 377 in Haltom City, police said.
Police said Jarvis and Suarez Jr. ran from the vehicle after crashing but were taken into custody shortly after. Two weapons were also recovered from this incident, according to police.
Fort Worth police said that all officers involved in the pursuit were okay.
Police said Jarvis, who was driving, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest and an out of town warrant.
Suarez Jr. was arrested for three outstanding felony warrants, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest and unauthorized possession of a firearm by a felon, police said.
During a news conference Tuesday afternoon, police chief Neil Noakes praised flock cameras for help in locating the stolen vehicle. Noakes said Suarez Jr. was someone the department had been searching for.
Noakes said the cameras are placed in certain high traffic areas throughout the city and will notify police if it detects a license plate related to a wanted suspect or a stolen vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
The northbound lanes of 377 at Springlake were closed as crews worked to clear the scene.
