DALLAS — One driver has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a deadly hit-and-run, in which a man was struck by two vehicles in late September, officials say.

The Dallas Police Department (DPD) says 18-year-old Luisa Martinez was taken into custody on Thursday, Oct. 20 and booked into the Dallas County jail on a charge of accident involving death.

The charge stems from a fatal accident that happened just before 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 in the 3000 block of Fort Worth Avenue.

According to police, a man was allegedly not in a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle. Police said that vehicle was driving westbound in the far right lane. When the first vehicle hit the victim, he was thrown into the middle lane.

The suspect fled the scene without stopping.

Officers said witnesses had stopped to help the man before he was hit a second time by a red Chevy Cruz. That driver also left without stopping.

The victim's name has not been released at this time.

It is unclear if Martinez was the driver of the first vehicle that struck the victim or the second vehicle. WFAA has reached out to DPD for clarification.

These hit-and-runs are being documented under separate case numbers: 173675-2022 and 173679-2022.
