Fort Worth police arrest man threatening to blow up TCU campus

The man was arrested without incident and no explosives were found.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A Fort Worth Police Department SWAT team arrested a man Thursday morning who had threatened to blow up TCU's campus, police said.

SWAT was called at about 9:07 a.m. Thursday morning after being notified of a man on TCU grounds who had been threatening TCU staff.

Police found him on property in a parking lot inside his vehicle, police said. As a crisis intervention team tried to contact the suspect, he refused to leave his vehicle.

At one point, police said, he opened his door and threatened to blow up the campus.

SWAT then arrived a short time later and the person left his vehicle and surrendered without incident, police said. SWAT then cleared the vehicle and found no explosives inside.

A loaded handgun was found under the driver's seat of the vehicle, police added.

The suspect, who is still being processed so no name is currently available, was arrested and charged with terroristic threat.
