DALLAS — Officials with Dallas Fire-Rescue are now looking into what started a three-alarm fire at a South Dallas apartment complex Saturday evening.
A DFR representative said officials got a call about the fire on South Murdeaux Lane at 7 p.m.
Firefighters noticed smoke coming from the three-story building when they arrived. They then made their way inside and found the fire burning in the walls of the building.
Around 60-70 firefighters were called to help at the scene. The DFR said overhaul companies were monitoring the building for any hot spots until 9:51 a.m. Sunday.
It's not clear what started the fire at this time.
The DFR said all residents were evacuated safely.
On Sunday, officials said 36 people were displaced. Many are now working with apartment management and the American Red Cross to figure out living arrangements.
Anyone that left the area before Red Cross' arrival is asked to call 800 RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) if they need any assistance.
The DFR reported that 24 apartments were affected, 10 of which were occupied by residents. There was also a partial roof collapse and damage mostly on the second and third floors.
