Video: Southlake police deliver Uber Eats order to family after driver gets in accident

Southlake DPS shared the doorbell camera video on social media. They said the driver in the accident will be OK.

SOUTHLAKE, Texas — You know what they say: Not all heroes wear capes.

Two Southlake police officers filled in as food delivery workers for a family after the original driver got into a car accident.

The surprise delivery was filmed on the family's doorbell camera. Southlake Department of Public Safety said the resident, Paola, shared the video because she "'just wanted to show everyone how awesome the Southlake Police are!'"

According to Southlake DPS, Paola and her family ordered hibachi from Hashi Japanese Kitchen.

She eventually got a message from her Uber Eats delivery driver, saying he was on his way.

After waiting a while for her food, Paola messaged him "where are you?" Her question was met with a response not from the driver, but from the Southlake Fire Department, according to the screenshot posted by DPS.

The department texted Paola that her Uber Eats driver was in an accident, so they would be dropping off her order instead.

Details about the driver's accident weren't shared, but Southlake DPS said he would be OK.

Paola's doorbell video shows the moment that two officers, whom Southlake DPS identified as Corporal Tejada and Officer Grace, deliver her food.

"Paola and the fam were probably in absolute bliss thinking about the shrimp which Alexis M. on Yelp said 'were perfectly cooked, plump and deveined,'" DPS joked on social media.
