Timber Creek, Euless Trinity square off in playoff battle on Friday Night Football on WFAA+

BEDFORD, Texas — The opening round of the 2023 UIL State Football Playoffs are upon us, and the march to AT&T Stadium gets underway this week.

On Friday night, you can tune in for the season finale of Friday Night Footballas two evenly-matched teams square off for the right to move on to the second round.

Euless Trinity hosts Keller Timber Creek in the first round.

Euless Trinity comes into the playoffs with a 6-4 record, after a 5-2 run through District 4-6A. The Trojans are led by workhorse running back Josh Bell, who has ran for 1,525 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, pacing an offense that has averaged 44.2 points per game this season.

Euless Trinity is also known for their proud Tongan community, whose fingerprints can be felt all throughout Euless -- and even on the high school football team's traditions. Check out Euless Trinity's famed pre-game Haka below:

Meanwhile, Timber Creek comes in at 7-3. They, too, went 5-2 in district play, coming out of District 3-6A. The Falcons three losses this year came only against teams ranked in the Top 20 in the state in 6A: No. 7 Byron Nelson, No. 10 Southlake Carroll, and No. 19 Coppell. The Falcons are led by wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma, who is committed to Oklahoma. The future Sooner led Timber Creek with 687 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

Timber Creek is riding a five-game winning streak into Friday night's game. They haven't lost since the calendar read September.

Kickoff on Friday is at 7:30 p.m., and our pregame show will start at approximately 7:20 p.m.
