Groom of $59M viral wedding offered 25 years in jail after being indicted for firing shots at North Texas police

The City of Westworth Village said officers were dispatched to a home in March, and officers were fired upon. Jacob LaGrone was arrested and charged in the incident.

TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — The groom in a viral "wedding of the century" that's drawn widespread attention across social media this month was in a Tarrant County courtroom Thursday, facing allegations of assaulting three police officers, according to court documents.

Jacob LaGrone, 29, was indicted in March on three counts of assault on a public servant, a first-degree felony.

Westworth Village city officials told WFAA on Thursday that the charges stemmed from an incident on March 14, 2023, when officers responded to a home on a report of a discharge of a firearm. A Westworth Village officer and two Westover Hills officers responded to the home -- "at which time they were fired upon," according to the city.

The indictment in the case said LaGrone "did intentionally and knowingly threaten imminent bodily injury" to the officers and "did use or exhibit a deadly weapon during the commission of the assault, namely, a firearm."

The indictment does not specify where exactly the incident happened, but named three officers: C. Munoz of Westworth Village police and C. Wilson and J. Dunlap, both of Westover Hills police.

LaGrone was in court Thursday for a motion hearing related to his the charges. WFAA is working to figure out what happened at today's hearing, which took place behind closed doors.

If convicted, LaGrone faces either life in prison or a sentence of not more than 99 years or less than five. LaGrone was offered a plea deal of 25 years by the Tarrant County District Attorney, documents showed.

LaGrone's wedding to his wife, Madelaine Brockway, took the Internet by storm last week.

The images the couple posted online of that affair were lavish and eye-grabbing. In all, the wedding has been valued at $59 million, according to reports, which deemed it "the wedding of the century."

The five-day celebration in Paris -- France, not Texas -- included an overnight stay at the Palace of Versailles, a rehearsal dinner at the French capital's Opera House, a private lunch at the Chanel Haute Couture Suite and a reception performance from the pop-rock band Maroon 5.

Here's a look at their purported $59 million wedding, as posted by TikTok account HMR Designs:

Brockway is the daughter of tycoon Bob Brockway, who runs a group of Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Florida but lives in the Fort Worth area.

According to the Tarrant County Appraisal District website, Bob Brockway owns five residential properties in the county, valued at $3.7 million, $2.07 million, $1.1 million, $673,000 and $200,000.

Per the couple's wedding registry, which is filled with vastly elegant gifts in its own right, the Texas couple got hitched on Nov. 18.

When WFAA approached LaGrone -- who was fitted in a Navy suit and black shoes -- for comment in the Tarrant County courthouse on Thursday, he would not comment on the indictments.

Instead, LaGrone's bodyguard pushed WFAA's camera away, and led his client back behind closed doors.
