Dallas Development Services switching to paperless permitting

Applicants will be able to submit commercial permit applications through the city's online portal.

DALLAS — Dallas will transition to paperless permitting to process commercial permits beginning March 1, 2024.

City officials say applicants can submit commercial permit applications through the city’s online portal, ProjectDox. 

Dallas Development Services will also conduct plan review digitally in in hopes of “fostering quicker turnaround times,” according to a news release from the city. Applicants will also receive real-time updates on the status of their permits and will have digital access to permit-related documents via the city’s online platform. 

“The transition to paperless permitting aligns with our Service First culture,” said Andrew Espinoza, director of DSD. “This is a significant leap forward in our commitment to serving the Development community as efficient as possible.”

To learn how to use ProjectDox, the City’s online submittal portal, customers can register for one of the following Building Dallas Together training sessions at the DSD Training Center located at 400 S. Zang Blvd, C95, Dallas, TX 75208:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 13 from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Monday, Jan. 22 from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 13 from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 12 from noon to 1 p.m.

“I encourage developers, contractors, and all of our development community members to embrace this progressive change and experience the benefits of a more agile and environmentally friendly permitting process,” Espinoza said.
