One dead in vehicle fire at Walmart parking lot in North Dallas, officials say

Dallas Fire-Rescue says they found a woman's body after extinguishing a fire in a vehicle at the Walmart at Frankford Road and Marsh Lane.

DALLAS — Dallas Fire-Rescue and Dallas police say a woman was found dead in a vehicle after a vehicle fire at the Walmart at the intersection of Frankford Road and Marsh Lane Thursday. This is north of the Mills Pointe Shopping Center and south of Rosemeade Park.

Firefighters say they responded to the fire at 1:07 p.m., and after they extinguished the fire, they found a body in the vehicle.

Authorities say a woman was waiting in the car while her daughter was inside Walmart shopping. The daughter told WFAA her mother is a smoker and has dementia, and when she walked outside their Black Acura was up in flames.

The daughter told WFAA that her family is from Jackson, Mississippi but moved to north Texas in 2020.

Police say they checked the surveillance video from the store parking lot, and preliminary evidence shows no one went near the car.

The fire is still under investigation and the cause of it will be listed as undetermined pending a medical examiner's office final ruling on the woman's cause of death, according to Dallas Fire-Recue.

This is a developing story. We’ll update this story as more details become available.
