DALLAS — After Friday's rains, it's looking like it'll be a beautiful, sunshine-filled weekend across Dallas-Fort Worth -- and thank goodness for that!

From holiday-themed rock concerts to state championship high school football games to citywide cultural celebrations for the season, there's plenty to do out and about these next few days.

So let's get to it, then! Here are our top picks for where you should be hanging out these next few days, North Texas!

Friday, Dec. 15

The Polyphonic Spree's 20th annual Holiday Extravaganza at Majestic Theatre - Night One (Dallas)

For 20 years now, Dallas' favorite internationally acclaimed outsized cinematic orchestral pop-rock outfit has been taking to stages this time of year to bring cheer to families across North Texas with its annual, and aptly named, holiday extravaganza!

You'll get twice the chance to catch this year's deal, too, with shows planned for both Friday and Saturday, both at the Majestic.

Expect magicians, holiday-themed decor, family-friendly performers and a visit from Santa Clause, plus two separate sets from the Polyphonic Spree themselves -- a traditional rock offering, and a fully holiday-themed one.

Tickets to this event, hosted in one of Downtown Dallas' architectural gems, start at $45 right here. Bring the kids! Children under 4 who can fit on their parents' laps get in free.

Saturday, Dec. 16

UIL Texas' High School Football State Championships at AT&T Stadium (Arlington)

It could be another legendary December Saturday in the making at AT&T Stadium for three powerhouse North Texas football programs.

Duncanville, DeSoto, and South Oak Cliff -- neighbors along the I-20 corridor in Greater Dallas -- all have the chance to become repeat champions on this day, with SOC looking to pull off the rarified threepeat feat.

And get this: Just $20 gets you in the door all day

Not bad for potentially three titles' worth of celebrations!

Sunday, Dec. 17

The City of Dallas' 20th annual 'Las Posadas' Festival at Latino Cultural Center (Dallas)

In Mexico, Las Posadas (Spanish for "the Inns") celebrations commemorate Mary and Joseph's journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of shelter.

Each evening during these festivals, a small child dressed as an angel leads a procession through the streets of a town, visiting selected homes and asking for lodging for Mary and Joseph.

Traditionally, the procession will be refused -- but the house will often provide refreshments. At each stop, scripture is read and Christmas carols are sung. This City of Dallas-hosted version will similarly host a procession -- plus all sorts of performers and vendors joining in on the celebration.
