LEWISVILLE, Texas — An 18-year-old man died while trying to sink a stolen vehicle in Lake Lewisville, police said.

Keith Johnson, of Aubrey, was identified as the man who died, according to an update from Little Elm police on Tuesday evening.

Police early Monday morning said Johnson was trying to submerge a vehicle in the lake when he was struck by the vehicle. The vehicle was identified as a stolen vehicle out of Denton County, according to police.

Officials said Johnson was taken to a hospital, where he died later Monday.

The lake incident happened near the 1200 block of Gammon Road, at Doe Branch Park. Officers had responded to a report of a single-car accident. When first responders arrived, they found a partially-submerged vehicle and Johnson inside of it, police said.

More information about how the investigation has not been released.
