How to watch Dallas Mavericks games on WFAA, re-scan your TV for a clearer signal

Here’s a walkthrough on how you can watch the 13 Dallas Mavericks games set to air for free on WFAA throughout the end of the 2023-2024 NBA season.

DALLAS — Throughout the rest of the 2023-2024 NBA season, WFAA will be your home for Mavs games!

WFAA and the Dallas Mavericks announced on Tuesday a partnership to air 10 games in addition to the previously announced three games on the NBA on ABC calendar. 

Due to this new agreement, North Texans will be able to watch 13 free over-the-air games in the span of 11 weeks.

The 10 games added to the WFAA schedule will not be available on Bally Sports Southwest’s cable channels. All other regular season Mavericks games will continue to air and be streamed by Bally Sports Southwest or by the NBA’s national media partners as previously scheduled.

Which Dallas Mavericks games will air on WFAA?

Below is the full list of Mavericks games airing on WFAA throughout the end of the 2023-2024 regular season:

  • Wed., Jan. 24 vs Phoenix Suns, 7:30 p.m. CT (NBA on ABC)
  • Fri., Mar. 1 @ Boston Celtics, 6:30 p.m. CT

  • Mon., Mar. 11 @ Chicago Bulls, 7 p.m. CT
  • Wed., Mar. 13 vs Golden State Warriors, 7:30 p.m. CT
  • Sun., Mar. 17 vs Denver Nuggets, 2:30 p.m. CT (NBA on ABC)
  • Thurs., Mar. 21, vs Utah Jazz, 7:30 p.m. CT

How do I watch Dallas Mavericks games on WFAA?

There are a number of ways!

1. Using an HD antenna.

The 13 games will be broadcast on WFAA (Ch. 8.1 and 8.2) and available for free over the air using an HD antenna connected to your TV.

An HD antenna can be purchased via Amazon, Best Buy and other retailers.

Once attached to your television, setting it up is a simple, three-step process.

  • Push the “menu” or “input” button on your remote.
  • Go to the “channel” or “TV” or “setup” menu option
  • Select “scan” or “auto-scan.”

2. Using a cable provider.

You can watch WFAA on channel 8 through several cable providers, including Charter/Spectrum, DirecTV, Dish, AT&T Uverse, Frontier, Grande and others.

3. Watching on NBA League Pass.

The WFAA games will also be available on League Pass, but -- by NBA rules -- will be blacked out within 75 miles of Dallas.

Who is announcing the Dallas Mavericks games on WFAA?

Fans will be excited to know that longtime Mavericks play-by-play announcer Mark Followill will continue to call the newly scheduled WFAA games. 

He will be joined, as usual, by color commentator Jeff “Skin” Wade, as well as Mavericks legends and broadcast analysts Derek Harper and Devin Harris. 

WFAA’s Emmy award-winning sports team of Joe Trahan, Mike Leslie and Jonah Javad is also anticipated to contribute to the broadcasts.
