HURST, Texas — Some stores in a shopping center near North East Mall in Hurst were evacuated Wednesday afternoon as a precaution after officials say a natural gas line was damaged.

Hurst police say the businesses in the center in the 1300 block of Pipeline Road near the mall that includes Starbucks and Five Guys were evacuated as a precaution Wednesday afternoon as crews worked on repairs, and no one was hurt.

“A construction crew doing work unrelated to Atmos Energy was working at 1318 West Pipeline Road in Hurst and damaged a natural gas pipeline,” Atmos said in a statement. “The Hurst Fire Department issued a precautionary evacuation of businesses in the area, some of which have since been lifted, and Atmos Energy’s highly trained technicians are on scene making the necessary repairs. Residents may experience traffic delays and should seek an alternate route.”

If a natural gas pipeline is damaged, call 911 and Atmos Energy’s emergency number at 866-322-8667.
