HOUSTON — A radio station learned the hard way you don’t mess with Beyoncé.

The Houston-native dropped two new songs during the Super Bowl Sunday. Both were country music. When a listener of a country music station in Oklahoma requested it, the station’s response ignited a firestorm on social media.

The listener – who goes by ‘Justin’ on X – requested one of those new Beyoncé songs, “Texas Hold ‘Em.” He got a response back from the station saying, “We do not play Beyoncé on KYKC as we are a country music station.”

Justin, not happy with that, then posted a response on X, calling the refusal racist and telling the BeyHive to bombard the radio station with more emails.

Justin’s post has hundreds of comments, mostly upset or outraged Beyoncé fans.

The general manager for the company that oversees the radio station talked to CBS, saying because thy are a smaller station, they didn’t even have the song on hand.  After the Beyhive took action, the station tracked down the song and agreed it was country. They made their first post on X in four years, saying the song was coming up.
