MIDLOTHIAN, Texas — A Midlothian student who reportedly threatened to kill two teachers was arrested after police say officers found a gun in his car Thursday.
Police said the incident happened at Midlothian High School. No one was injured.
School resource officers from the Midlothian Police Department had responded to a report of a 16-year-old student who had threatened to kill two teachers, according to a police news release.
One officer detained the student in a classroom, while another officer went to the student's vehicle and found a gun in the front seat, police said.
The student was arrested on charges of terroristic threat, a Class B misdemeanor, and having a weapon in a prohibited place, a third-degree felony.
The student's name is not being released by police, as he is a juvenile.
"The Midlothian Police Department values the ongoing collaboration with Midlothian ISD in our shared dedication to ensuring the safety of students and staff," police officials said in a statement. "Rest assured, incidents of this nature are treated with utmost seriousness and will be promptly addressed in accordance with applicable laws."
