16-year-old boy fatally shot in Dallas, police say

Police at the scene were investigating at an apartment building.

DALLAS — A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed in Dallas on Friday night, police said.

Officers responded around 8:50 p.m. to the 3300 block of Southern Oaks Boulevard, near East Illinois Avenue, where they found a victim who was shot, according to a police new release.

The victim, identified as 16-year-old Trelynn Derrion Henderson, was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Henderson's death a homicide, but more information about how the shooting happened was not released.
