Election results: State Rep. Frederick Frazier heading for runoff in Texas HD 61 primary

The incumbent, State Rep. Frederick Frazier, faced legal troubles during his first term, pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges.

COLLIN COUNTY, Texas — State Rep. Frederick Frazier appears headed to a runoff in the Republican primary race in Texas House District 61.

Frazier as of Wednesday morning trailed Keresa Richardson by five percentage points, 39.75% to 32.09%.

The results below the 50% threshold would pit the incumbent Frazier against Richardson in a runoff on Tuesday, May 28.

Frazier won his first election two years ago but has dealt with legal troubles during his first term. He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of attempting to impersonate a public servant after he was accused of posing as a code enforcement officer and stealing his political opponent's campaign signs in 2022.

Frazier also pleaded guilty to one charge of criminal mischief.

Chuck Branch was also in the primary race Tuesday and earned 28% of the vote.

The winner of the Republican primary will face a Democratic challenger on November 5.
