Programming note: '9-1-1', 'Grey’s Anatomy' to air overnight on WFAA due to Mavs-Hawks game

The Dallas Mavericks' Thursday night matchup against the Atlanta Hawks will tip off at 6:30 p.m. on WFAA following the 6 p.m. newscast.

DALLAS — TEGNA and the Dallas Mavericks are partnering to locally broadcast a number of the team's remaining games in the 2023-2024 NBA season

This will lead to a handful of changes for some WFAA programming.

Tonight, the Dallas Mavericks' matchup against the Atlanta Hawks will tip off at 6:30 p.m. following the 6 p.m. newscast.

This means new episodes of "9-1-1" and "Grey's Anatomy" originally slated to broadcast this evening will instead air overnight on WFAA on Friday -- at 1:11 a.m. and 2:11 a.m., respectively -- for the late-night crowds, and also for those wanting to set up recordings on their DVR-enabled devices.

Meanwhile, "Station 19" will air as scheduled at 9 p.m. on WFAA's main broadcast signal as part of ABC's regular Thursday night programming. If the Mavs game goes past 9 p.m., WFAA will join "Station 19" in progress. This week's entire "Station 19" episode will air overnight at 3:11 a.m. either way.

Antenna users can still watch "9-1-1" and "Grey's Anatomy" -- and "Station 19" if necessary -- as they air live in their usual Thursday night timeslots on WFAA's 8.2 over-the-air broadcast signal. All of these shows will also be available for streaming live on Hulu starting on Friday morning.

Viewers can follow this link for directions on where to purchase an antenna and for detailed instructions on how to make sure their TV picks up those 8.2 channel broadcasts.

After tonight's game, the Mavericks have four more games on WFAA through the end of the regular season:

  • Fri., Apr. 5 vs. Golden State Warriors, 7:30 p.m. CT
  • Tue., Apr. 9 @ Charlotte Hornets, 6 p.m. CT
  • Wed., Apr. 10 @ Miami Heat, 6:30 p.m. CT
  • Fri. Apr. 12 vs Detroit Pistons, 7:30 p.m. CT
