GARLAND, Texas — A 32-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting death of a woman in Garland earlier this month, police said.

Christopher Polk, of Dallas, faces a murder charge in the death of 31-year-old Marquicha Mingo, who was also a Dallas resident, according to a news release from the Garland Police Department.

Polk was arrested April 12 in Dallas with his bond set at $1 million, police said.

According to the Garland Police Department, officers had responded April 6 to an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Duck Creek Drive at about 2:30 a.m. after receiving calls about a weapons disturbance.

In the updated news release, Garland police say the disturbance started off in Dallas between multiple people. It later escalated to Polk allegedly shooting Mingo and another victim.

Mingo died from her injuries at a hospital.

The second victim's injuries were not life-threatening, police say.

The shooting is still under investigation, according to Garland police.
