Ticket prices to Caitlin Clark's WNBA debut vs. Dallas Wings soar into hundreds

WFAA's Jonah Javad sat down with Wings President and CEO Greg Bibb to discuss the Caitlin Clark phenomenon and how the WNBA (and Wings) stand to benefit.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Caitlin Clark is expected to make her WNBA debut when the Indiana Fever visit the Dallas Wings on Friday, May 3 for the preseason opener.

Tickets for that game, along with all other Wings single-game tickets, went on sale to the general public on Thursday at 10 a.m. And with tickets subject to "dynamic pricing," which raises the prices according to demand, it didn't take long for prices to soar.

The cheapest prices in the top bowl on the utatickets.com website ranged from $210 to $350. Prices climbed higher than $1,000 in some places.

Here is what the cheapest prices looked like on the secondary market:

There might have been some initial confusion for buyers when tickets went on sale at 10 a.m.

When going to the Dallas Wings website, the link to the preseason game initially put users in a loop that never went to the actual ticket page. WFAA found the link by going to the single game ticket for another regular season game, clicking on the utatickets.com logo in the top left-hand corner, then scrolling down to find the preseason matchup between the Fever and Wings. The link was later fixed and could be accessed on www.dallaswings.com. The single game link can be accessed here.

Few athletes are more in demand these days than the former Iowa basketball star, who has seen a meteoric rise in fame over the last year.
