Storms and severe weather returns
The pattern will take an active status late week and into the weekend. Several upper-level disturbances are expected to move in a favorable way for us to see thunderstorms and possibly severe weather through the weekend.
Thunderstorm coverage will vary through the weekend. It won't rain the whole time. It does look like the most active periods will be Friday morning, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Thursday - Thursday night
Thursday storm chances look to be west/northwest of North Texas closer to the dryline. It looks like North Texas will have a strong cap, and storms are not likely during the daytime hours, but we are not ruling out an isolated shower due to the high humidity.
Storms will likely move into North Texas from west to east during the overnight hours into the morning. Some could be strong to severe during that time. The tornado threat is highest northwest of North Texas.
Friday
Friday sees a better chance for thunderstorms mainly during the morning time. Storms from Thursday night will continue to move across the area from west to east during the morning. Some of those storms could be strong to severe with a main threat for hail and wind. Additional storms will be possible during the afternoon as a dryline shifts back towards the west.
Activity will be scattered. It won't be raining consistently everywhere.
Saturday and Sunday
Both days this weekend will feature chances for thunderstorms, but it does not look to rain all weekend long. As of now, it looks like best chances may be later in the day Saturday, Saturday night, and Sunday morning, but exact details are far from certain. Storms could linger Sunday afternoon and evening across eastern North Texas. Once again, some storms could be severe, and if you have plans this weekend make sure to stay weather aware!
