Will Dallas Cowboys trade up? How about trading back? Here's a look at Jerry Jones' NFL Draft history

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have made 71 draft-day trades since Jones bought the team in 1989. Some of these moves included getting Emmitt Smith, Micah Parsons, etc.

DALLAS — The 2024 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday, April 25 on WFAA, and the Dallas Cowboys have the No. 24 overall pick.

The burning question headed into this year's draft is what Jerry Jones will do with said pick. Will he trade it? Will it be a move out of the first round? Will Jones trade up?

Since Jones bought the team in 1989, the Dallas Cowboys have made 71 draft-day trades.

We've seen some moves to go up and get a player, like in 1990 when the Cowboys traded up to get Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith. Dallas was able to get Smith at No. 17 overall by trading its No. 21 overall pick it got from Minnesota in arguably the biggest trade in the history of the NFL: The haul of picks received for Herschel Walker. Cowboys legendary safety Darren Woodson and defensive tackle Russell Maryland was also a product of the Walker trade.

The last time Dallas ever traded up was in 2012 to the No. 6 spot to get LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne.

There have been a few times Dallas traded back and it paid off, like when the Cowboys got Micah Parsons at No. 12 after trading back from their original No. 10 spot (Philadelphia picked DeVonta Smith).

Here is a look at all 71 draft-day trades made in the Jerry Jones era.
