DALLAS — Game 3 between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers was a chippy one.
Mavericks forward P.J. Washington got into shoving match with Terance Mann, which led to Washington striking a pose and becoming an internet sensation and meme for Mavs twitter.
"PJ Washington. The Luka bodyguard," WFAA Sports Anchor Mike Leslie said.
After the game, Washington posted the photo of him posing with a caption that read "Im Mr ain’t goin."
An already testy game reached a boiling point midway through the fourth quarter when Russell Westbrook slung Doncic around after fouling him.
Westbrook was called for a technical for that contact and for shoving Washington after Washington confronted him.
Westbrook, who in the first half got a flagrant 1 foul for excessive contact when fouling Josh Green on a breakaway, and Washington were ejected.
"Always got to protect 77 (Doncic) at all costs,” Washington said when asked about the confrontation with Westbrook.
It's safe to say Doncic appreciated it.
“Amazing. Amazing. I have nothing else to say. The thing he does. He’s a team player. He helps all of us and I’m just really happy we got him on our team,” Doncic said of Washington's physicality and how he protects his teammates.
Dallas took a 2-1 series lead and host the Clippers again in Game 4 on Sunday.
