Busy weekend in Dallas postpones DART repair work - again

DART repair work planned for May 10 to 12 is postponed yet again due to the Mavericks and Stars playoff games and a Nicki Minaj concert.

DALLAS — Fans will make their way to the American Airlines center this week as the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars have secured their spot in the second round of playoffs.

The incredible playoff run is putting repairs in Dallas’ Central Business District on hold this weekend to ensure riders can get to events in the area, the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) said Monday.

The Stars' NHL playoff Game 1 and Game 2 against the Colorado Avalanche are set for May 7 and May 9 at the American Airlines Center (AAC). The Mavs' playoff Game 3 and Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder are set for May 11 and May 13 at the AAC.

Plus, Nicki Minaj's world tour is coming to the AAC on Friday, May 10. It was originally scheduled for Saturday, but the playoff games created a conflict.

DART had planned to perform maintenance work on its high-voltage power source, known as re-tensioning starting May 10. During the repairs, DART planned to operate a single train in both directions, serving all stations between Pearl/Arts District and West End, during the repairs.

DART says it’s looking into alternative dates for the repairs, but a new date has not yet been announced. For more information, visit DART’s website.
